After a Consultation: 48‑Hour Checklist to Protect Your Plan

The most important thing to do right after your consultation is to confirm your plan and next steps in writing before you get busy and forget the details. I’m big on clear explanations, and people tell me I take the time to explain everything clearly, especially during skin consults. If you’re in South Ogden and you just met with me for a consultation, this 48-hour checklist keeps your plan clean, protects your results, and makes your treatment day feel easy.
Your first 24 to 48 hours: the “don’t lose the plan” checklist
My consultations typically take about 30 minutes. In that time, we talk through your concerns, what you’ve tried, what you want to change, and what makes sense next. The aftercare part starts the second you leave.
48-hour priority: save your notes, confirm the plan, and schedule your follow-up or treatment while the timing is fresh.
Do this today
- Look over the recommendations I gave you and write down any questions that popped up after you left.
- If you’re ready, schedule your next step within 48 hours. That might be microneedling, a chemical peel, or a series plan. Getting it on the calendar helps you actually follow through.
- If I gave you any pre-treatment instructions, follow those exactly. If anything feels unclear, email or call me. Don’t guess.
Avoid these common missteps
- Don’t make last-minute changes like starting a new active serum or booking a different service somewhere else without checking in. Skin is predictable when we keep variables steady.
- Don’t ignore written instructions because you “feel fine.” Most timing issues happen when people wing it the week before treatment.
- If we discussed meds or supplements that could matter for your next appointment, don’t stop or pause anything without medical guidance. If you’re unsure what applies, let me know and I’ll help you sort out what questions to ask.
If you’re coming from Ogden, Roy, Riverdale, Washington Terrace, West Haven, or Marriott‑Slaterville, build in a little travel buffer when you schedule. Being relaxed and on time makes the whole appointment feel better.
The first week: set yourself up for facials, skin brightening treatments, or microneedling
A consultation doesn’t have downtime, but it does start a chain of decisions. And the first week after your consult is where people usually either get great results or get off track. I’ve had plenty of first-timers tell me they were hesitant at first, then felt pleasantly surprised once they understood the plan and timing. That’s the goal.
Keep doing
- Stick to a simple routine: gentle cleanse, moisturize, SPF in the morning. Consistency beats experimenting right now.
- Pay attention to hydration. People love that “my skin feels so soft” feeling after a good facial, and the easiest way to support that is steady moisture and sunscreen.
- Look at your calendar and pick the best day for treatment based on your lifestyle. If you’ve got outdoor plans, I’ll help you time skin brightening treatments so you’re not fighting the sun.
Steer clear of
- Random product swaps, strong exfoliants, or “miracle” online routines right before a planned service. That’s a fast way to show up irritated.
- Extra sun exposure without protection. Fall and winter on the Wasatch Front usually mean less sun, which can make scheduling easier, but it’s still UV, even on cold days.
- Overdoing outdoor workouts during inversion days if your skin is reactive. Poor air quality can flare sensitivity for some people, and I’d rather keep your barrier calm leading into treatment.
Quick timing note: if you’re not sure when to book your first service after a consult, I’ll talk you through it. A lot of people move forward once the schedule and prep feel clear.
Products and habits that actually protect your results (without buying a whole new shelf)
During a consultation, I’m paying attention to your skin type, sensitivity, and what you’ll realistically do at home. People regularly tell me that once they follow a simple routine we talked through, their skin starts improving with each visit and they notice a difference within days after appointments.
If you’re planning facial rejuvenation or custom facials
Keep it gentle and hydrating. Cleanse, moisturize, SPF. That’s the foundation that makes “soft, moisturized skin” last longer.
If you’re planning microneedling
Protect your skin barrier leading up to it. Avoid getting aggressive with exfoliation. If you’re unsure about a product you’re using, bring it up during your consultation follow-up.
If you’re looking up “facials near me” because your schedule is packed
Tell me what you can commit to. I’d rather give you a routine you’ll actually do than a perfect plan that sits on the counter.
And yes, if you searched “facial near me” or even “same day facial near me, ” you’re not alone. Just know that certain results-driven services need a little planning, and I’ll be straight with you about what timing makes sense.
When to reach out after your consultation (and how I’ll help fast)
If your health status changes, you start a new medication, you find out you’re pregnant, you develop a new rash, or something just feels off, reach out before your next appointment. I’m attentive, I care about your results, and I want you to feel comfortable asking questions. That’s a big reason so many people come back.
Michelle is amazing. She’s good and passionate about what she is doing, but she’s also a caring, attentive and very personable human being. I always feel fantastic when I leave her care.

The easiest way to keep things smooth
- Email or call me as soon as you know you need to adjust timing.
- Keep your recommendations, any photos we took, and any paperwork together so you can reference it before treatment day.
- If you’re scheduling around work, school, or outdoor plans, I’ll help you pick a realistic date. Parking can affect quick follow-ups.
If you’re still deciding on your next step, these two posts help: what to expect from a first-time consultation and consultation vs direct booking. They’ll save you time and second-guessing.
Need a quick clarification? I’d rather answer one small question now than fix a preventable issue later.
